Headache and migraine symptoms that you might be experiencing

Everybody seems to be experiencing these symptoms recently. These conditions just popped up out of the woodwork and everybody that's coming into the clinic, or at least a lot of people seem to be experiencing this.

If you're experiencing short bouts of dizziness, lasting for a couple of seconds, maybe 10, 20 seconds, that is particularly aggravated by movement. Like turning your head, doing a head check in the car, following the kids around the park, maybe bending over to tie up your shoe, laying in bed or rolling over in bed, those sorts of things.

A lot of people tend to think of this condition as like big spins, and that's how we can start off. But for a lot of people recently, they had that kind of experience to begin with, but after a week, two weeks, three weeks, four weeks later, they're not experiencing those big spins anymore.

They're experiencing more lightheadedness. When they turn their head,it feels like their head is taking a couple of seconds to catch up, like more of a wooziness in their head, experiencing more of an increase in headaches or migraines accompanying this lightheadedness and neck stiffness.

Another thing is experiencing nausea as well. It doesn't have to be these big spins that you're experiencing with these really short bouts of dizziness that's exacerbated by movements, but it can be any kind of dizziness, any kind of lightheadedness that you're experiencing.

This condition that I'm talking about, is Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (B P P V)

So when the crystals in the ear get dislodged, then it can create this sort of dizziness experience. The world is spinning and it can start off like that, but once it's settled, then you don't necessarily get that world spinning sensation.

And thankfully this condition is one of the easier dizziness conditions to settle. So by coming into the clinic, having an assessment confirming that it's B P P V, then performing some simple maneuvers at home, you’ll be able to kick off the pain you’re experiencing.

It's important to make sure that you're performing the right maneuver at home, which is why it's important to get an assessment here in the clinic. For some reason it's just popping up far more frequently than we've seen in the past.

Have you been experiencing it? Do you know someone else that might be experiencing it? Sometimes these things can get confused for vestibular migraines  just simply because you may be experiencing it quite a lot throughout the day, because you do move your head a lot throughout the day.

So it's always best to get an assessment, by someone who does know about dizziness and who does know about headaches and migraines to make sure that you're getting the right diagnosis and therefore the right treatment.
