Hi, I'm Dr. Beth, an osteopath at Melbourne Headache Solutions.

Experiencing a headache every morning used to be a constant struggle for me, and it was undeniably the worst way to start the day. All I could wish for is for it to vanish!

But why do morning headaches and migraines occur?

Here are some common reasons why you might be waking up to that intense pain early in the morning.

One, if you're a snorer, or if you have conditions like sleep apnea, research indicates a higher likelihood of waking up with headaches or migraines.

Two, clenching or grinding your teeth increases the chances of waking up with morning headaches or migraines. The heightened tension in facial muscles and neck due to teeth clenching...

Today we're talking about immunity, cold headaches, and how they all interrelate together. If you're wondering about a headache from common cold issues or the likelihood of headache common cold experiences, stay tuned.

Hi, I'm Dr. Beth, osteopath here at Melbourne Headache Solutions. I am coming to you now from my living room because I have a chest infection at the moment, which has been particularly annoying, prolonged, and relatively severe. I've been spending the last week on my couch and in bed, not really doing very much, not being able to move very much or else, it sets off a coughing attack. I've had to lie down for most of the time which means lots of fluids and lots of rest.

Since a lot of people in Australia, particularly Victoria, and other places in the world, have been isolating from one another, wearing masks, using a lot of hand sanitizers, and just staying away from each other, there's been a decrease incident of colds and flus, which has been really nice if you've...

The interesting thing about the gut-brain-microbiome connection

Uncategorized Apr 16, 2021

We are going to discuss the gut-brain connection and how it influences migraine. The gut microbiome (the bacteria in our digestive system) is one of the most critical factors that affect our mental and brain health, including stress, anxiety, depression, and migraine.

The main goal of this blog post is to present you with all the latest research about what triggers migraine headaches so you'll know how to proactively take control of your migraines to prevent them from occurring.

Many people do not consider the impact that their gut health can have on their migraines, but what they don't realise is that everything that your brain needs to operate well comes from your gut and your lungs.  If you are not putting in what the brain needs or you don't have the right internal environment (microbiome), then the brain will not function properly.

The gut-brain connection is not a new concept, but it has been proven to be an essential link in the pathogenesis of migraine....

Can gut bacteria cause migraine?

Uncategorized Apr 16, 2021

Can gut bacteria cause migraine?

For some people, absolutely yes!
For others, it may play a part in your migraine puzzle.

Eating a diet composed of energy-dense and highly processed foods, gluten, sugars, refined oils, artificial sweeteners, and alcohol upset the microbiome's optimal balance (gut bacteria).

But it is not just your processed food. Often "healthy foods" have hidden ingredients (such as industrial oils) that can upset the balance. Medicine such as NSAID's and antibiotics, infections, chronic stress, and pollutants can also affect the microbiome

As a result, some of the "bad bacteria" flourish at the expense of the "good bacteria". There can also be a loss of the bacteria's diversity (going from lots of different types to just a few types of bacteria).

As the microbiome has numerous roles in maintaining our overall health, gut dysbiosis can have wide-ranging effects on your health from local conditions such as IBS and more...

If you know that neck pain is adding, contributing, or causing your headaches and migraines, then today's video is for you. So today I'm going to show you an exercise to help reduce your neck pain and stiffness to hopefully help decrease your headaches and migraines.

Hi, I'm Dr Beth osteopath here at Melbourne Headache Solutions.

Neck pain and stiffness are two of the most common associated features with headaches and migraines. We know that there's one of the leading causes of headaches and migraines. Particularly, the top three joints in the neck, but you can't have healthy top three joints in the neck without having a healthy rest of the spine as well.

So, we need to make sure that your cervical spine and your neck is moving nice and healthily to help decrease those headaches and migraines.

So particularly for...
